I was looking to get reconnected to Annelise and so sorry to read that she had died. We were the same age when we did the International Festival of Women Artists in Copenhagen. RIP

I was totally unaware of her passing. So sad to hear. She had a personality that would encourage you to exploit your own capabilities. I remember being with her when she was working on an abstract, and had asked my opinion on two particular curves on which they should touch or not. My comment was that I'm not the artist and her reply was that she wanted to get my feelings on it ( Note: Annelise did not say "opinion"). I've known her for about a year or so and her personality just grew on me. Before she left for Copenhagen (of which I was sad to see her leave), she gifted me that abstract. I am so honored to have that in my home and always felt that she never left. May she rest in peace, and may God bless her family. Your Friend Mike Cicale

Annelise and I met at the CAA/WCA Toronto Conference. We sat next to each other at the WCA Honoree’s Banquet. We discovered that we were both figurative artists and studied with Vern Wilson – Annelise at Art Center and me at Vern’s weekend studio classes. From that beginning, we became lifelong friends. Annelise painted many self-portraits over her long art career. She planned to continue doing them when she would be in her 80s and 90s. She said we would exhibit our nude self-portraits when we turned 90. Annelise especially loved lounging in my garden in February after our WCA conferences. She loved the sun and got so little of it during the long Danish Winters. We enjoyed soaking in my hot tub and discussing art, life, and those we love. Annelise was a remarkable, talented, and accomplished woman with a big heart. She had an egalitarian and compassionate philosophy. I miss her very much and will remember her all the days of my life. I am so sad to learn of Annelise's passing. My deepest condolences to her loved ones. We knew each other for many years at the College Art Association where she was a strong advocate for women and international artists and also at Foundations in Art: Theory and Education where she contributed to important deliberations about art education. It was a pleasure and honor to accept her invitation to Folegandros de Graeske one summer. Her joyous spirit and talents are greatly missed.

It is hard to believe Annelise has passed, I am so sad to find this. We kept in touch annually. We met thru a UN NGO Conference in NY in the late 1990’s. We participated in UN conferences, in Paris, Netherlands, related to art, culture and peace. What a wonderful person, a big heart, great artist, she had a beautiful spirit, she is missed tremendously.
