I am very sorry to learn of Prof. Jespersen's death. I fondly remember the seminar on early modern maritime history he led while visiting Yale University back in the early 1990s. He was a lovely man and a fine scholar.

I am very sorry to hear about Professor Jespersen's passing. I did not know him in person, but he contributed chapters to books of which I am/was the copy editor. I admired the scholarly quality of these chapters.
