Peter Colliander taught us at Jyväskylä university in Finland, nearly twenty years ago. Even though he went on to return to Denmark to continue his teaching there, there is no way to describe how lasting his impact and legacy still is to me. I remember Peter as a teacher who genuinely cared not only about the subject but also about his students. I felt that at that time he was probably one of very few people to notice when I was not doing well, and the first to get through to me. I am saddened to no end to hear about his death. I regret not having had the time, the opportunity, or the courage to contact him, to thank him. But I remember him.
